Description:
Charles creates photographs that experiment with the boundaries between painting and photography. This work captures the moment in which a flower is submerged in water and inks.
Charles' flower series draws on the composition and lighting values of still life paintings. Influenced by the use of symbolism in Dutch Vanitas, Charles has created his own symbolic imagery, in which he explores ideas of fragility in life, death and the hereafter.
This work features on Editors' new 2013 album 'The Weight of Your Love.'
